My degree is in elementary ed with a minor in coaching and PE. I attended Kamiakin H.S. and Central Washington University. I love to do craft projects when I’m not following my kids and their sports/activities. Some of my most inspirational and influential people in my life were teachers and coaches. I got into the teaching profession, because I was hoping that I could give back and be that inspirational/helpful teacher too.

With the students’ best interest in mind, I walk into the classroom with the belief that each student can learn and I challenge each student equally yet appropriately. I create a nurturing environment conducive to learning and adventure. My goal is that students leave my class with tools for success, beyond drawings, paintings, and sculptures, such as self-expression, attention to detail, decision making skills, respect for self and others, and being culturally responsive.

I believe all humans are musical and every human responds to music differently. I teach music so our students can not only learn and do music (I have a rigorous and specific music curriculum), but so they will be more human. Music education gives students the opportunity to feel and express, connect to one another and something beyond our classroom, to think creatively, to find something in this world that is beautiful, to create sensitivity, to be more tolerant of others, and to have compassion. Additionally, music education also teaches students important life skills and positive character traits: perseverance, teamwork, goal setting, independence, and integrity.
